I also provide outdoor dungarees, coats, and wellies for pre-school children
We also have:
Extensive grassy areas and lawns for running, hiding, digging, playing football, etc. - children love outdoor play and the exercise that goes with it!
Hard surface area for playing ball on the wall, drawing with outside chalk, etc.
A small stream with a shallow pool for throwing stones into water, splashing, floating paper boats, etc. - children love water play!
Private driveway and pathways for a farm walk and to see the animals (see animal section)
Two fenced in ponds, both have fish but the lower one is a real wildlife eco system that is fascinating to watch in summer; the latter is in a bog that is too wet to walk through in winter
Living hedges, berry bushes, and all kinds of native and exotic trees that most people haven't even heard of
A willow coppice for climbing trees
Vegetable gardens; we do a lot of seeding, planting, and harvesting
A large poly tunnel that the children can experience and plant and see tomatoes, peppers, okra, cape gooseberries and other plants grow
Two large aviaries with birds (see animal section)
Besides, we have a pet farm with:
Horses
Donkey
Dogs
Cats
Goats (& kids)
Guinea Pigs
Chinchillas
Hamsters
Dwarf Hamsters
Ferrets (recently stolen but might get new ones)
Chickens (various different kinds, both fancy and laying)
Ducks (Runner Ducks, Welsh Harlequins, Muscovys)
Geese
Turkeys
Various different kinds of pigeons
Diamond Doves
Zebra Finches
Chinese Painted Quail
Canaries
Genovese Finches
Japanese Quail
Bees
Gold fish
Koi carps
and occasionally some others
that the children like to visit, pet, and feed.
Our next door neighbours have sheep & cattle so we only need to look over the fence to see the lambs.
Children love animals by nature.
I find that even children who are shy with people will open up to the animals.
It is also amazing to see how important they find the feeding and how they never forget to look after the animals in the morning.
