Large Group Time

Large group time is a more important concept for creches than for childminders. This is because the former work with larger groups of children.

Since quality care is not possible when the children are always in a large group the large groups are usually split up into small ones for small group adult initiated activities. However, the large group will come back together for certain other adult initiated activities.

In my childminding setting the large group time is when my own children join into the play. This does not happen every day since they are quite grown up already but happens occasionally and is always good fun. It is more likely to happen during school holidays than on normal school days and gives us the opportunity to do activities we need more participants for.
